Membership Application Form

We are an entirely voluntary club whose members share the simple aim of creating and operating a miniature railway in attractive surroundings. Our railway in Riverside Park St Neots aims to be a resource for the whole community offering rides to children and adults for a small charge and providing a host of opportunities to become involved.

Would you like to help? As well as helping us to build a community railway, we are looking for volunteers to help with station duties, maintenance and driving.

We are looking for more volunteers who would like to get involved. Whether you wish to be a Driver, Guard, or  help with the maintenance, you will be working alongside a friendly group of volunteers sharing the same experience.

If you can help we are looking for volunteers to train in the following areas:

Drivers

Do you want to learn to drive a 7¼” or 5″ gauge train?

We are looking for responsible volunteer drivers to learn to operate and drive our locomotives. If you are over 16 and would like to find out more about training to become a driver for us, please get in touch.

Platform Duties

We require the use of responsible volunteers to manage the platform. This role is perfect for our junior members or for those volunteers who do not drive.

After being fully trained, you will be responsible for managing the safe running of the station and the flow of passengers, assisting passengers with boarding and disembarking the service, checking tickets and dispatching trains. A responsible volunteer will need to be confident, polite and be able to deal with the general public of all ages, face-to-face.

Engineers

Although mostly ‘behind there scenes’, but often seen at the forefront of the railway are our Engineers. An absolute vital role as without the dedication of our volunteer Engineers, there would be no railway. There are always jobs to be done and if you can help – there is a place for you. We are looking for people to help in all areas including carpentry, mechanics, electronics and gardening.

and there is more…

We can also train you to become a guard, crossing controller, point operator or to manage our booking office.

If you have any other skills you would like to put to use and would like to join a friendly team of like-minded Volunteers – there is always a place for you at RMR.
