Since we finished running trains at the end of last year, with the popular santa special event we have been busy behind the scenes making the railway ready for another season of running trains and carrying passengers through the summer. We have all been very much looking forward to this and training had already started to get us ready to start the 2020 season, but as we all know, unfortunately, sometimes plans are disrupted.
We are a voluntary organisation with several members in the most vulnerable groups and additionally our railway does tend to generate crowds on the station, so in line with government guidance we have taken the sad and tough decision to postpone opening this year.
At the moment we will not open on April 5th as advertised and will remain closed until further notice.
We all understand how disappointing this will be for our many passengers, young and old, but we trust that you will appreciate our intentions to keep you all safe and well during the Covid-19 outbreak.
It is our intention to keep you updated through our website and facebook pages with any developments at the railway and of course we will welcome you all back for rides once there is an improvement in the situation.
Until then from all at the RMR we join you in hoping for an early end to this situation and send you our best wishes.
